HONDA CRF 1000L Pannier Racks AT (2016-2017) with Exhaust Cutout Engineered for Real Adventure
The HONDA CRF 1000L Pannier Racks with Exhaust Cutout – Asymmetrical are purpose-built for adventure and overland riders who demand strength, precision fit, and reliable luggage support in all conditions. Designed to provide perfect exhaust clearance while maintaining optimal balance, these racks allow safe and secure pannier mounting for long-distance and off-road travel.
Constructed from high-strength 17.3 mm steel tubing with a 2.3 mm wall thickness, the rack system is designed to handle heavy loads while also acting as a partial rear subframe for increased rigidity. Precision MIG and TIG welding ensures exceptional structural strength, resistance to vibration, and long service life in harsh riding environments.
After fabrication, the racks are sandblasted and finished with an electrostatic black powder coating, delivering long-term corrosion protection against water, road salt, mud, and debris. A bolted rear crossbar connects both sides, significantly improving torsional rigidity and keeping luggage stable on challenging terrain.
Installation is fully bolt-on using the included mounting hardware. No drilling, cutting, or modifications to the motorcycle frame or rear footrests are required. The asymmetrical design creates proper clearance around the exhaust, ensuring safe pannier positioning without heat interference.
Built for Strength, Fit, and Luggage Security

The side racks offer superior strength thanks to the 18mm steel tubing, making them the ideal side carriers for your adventures.

Der Anbau ist eigentlich problemlos. Eigentlich… 😅

Hi Tobi,
Thank you for your feedback.
We usually recommend inserting all the screws but without tightening them.
After all the screws are in place, but still loose, you can attach the connecting bar, loose as the rest of the bolts.
You can then start working each screw, with only a few threads at a time, until the rack will properly sit on it’s correct position.
The recommended tightening torque is standard, 12Nm for the M6 and 24Nm for the M8 bolts.
Best regards,
Andrei

Nice looking rack, better then most of the competition.
The positive:
– They look good
– Easy to install. Torque should be 12Nm for M6-screws, and 24Nm for the M8.
– Feels robust and protects the sides, even without bags.
Negative:
– Some parts goes under the seat, therefor you can’t adjust the original seat to the lowest settings. My solution to that was to saw/file a part of the plastic on the seat, to fit the lowest setting. Works, but shouldn’t be an issue.
– Right side is to close to the exhaust pipe
They came with the bike, but I’ve already attached some bags with my own pannier fixing system. Works!

I chose this after long research – I was not disappointed! The strength and choice of material are very good. This can really work as a crash bar. Even after installation, the seat is adjustable to the lowest position. The attached template is accurate and easy to use. Installation is not an easy task, Sunday DIY people can have trouble. What is a strong negative: the concept of the assembly guide is good, but it is horribly photographed and several steps are not always clear; it can be confusing where which screw goes. The pipes run too close on the exhaust side.
