The HONDA Transalp 650 Pannier Racks – Symmetrical are purpose-built for adventure and touring riders who want balanced loading, maximum stability, and clean symmetry on both sides of the motorcycle. Designed without an exhaust cutout, this symmetrical system provides equal-volume luggage mounting — ideal for overland travel, long-distance touring, and riders who value perfectly even weight distribution.
Constructed from high-strength 17.3 mm steel tubing with a 2.3 mm wall thickness, the rack system delivers exceptional durability and load-bearing capability. Precision MIG and TIG welding ensures a rigid, impact-resistant structure that withstands vibration, off-road abuse, and the demands of fully loaded travel.
After fabrication, each rack is sandblasted and finished with a premium electrostatic black powder coating for long-term corrosion protection against rain, mud, road salt, and UV exposure. Have had these for years, when I clean them they still look new, they don’t rust. They fit pretty close to the body of the motorcycle and keep the bike nice and slim, even with panniers installed.

The negative:
– I would have preferred a little bit better packaging. It had no damages, but the box had the three major parts wraped in plastic and the screws in a loose bag. Apart from this there was a big ball of wraped up plastic film not doing much at all.
Tape the screw bag to the parts so it doesn’t tumble around in the box. The box will be rotated many times during shipping which increases the risk of damage with loose parts. Also, mark the box so everyone knows which side is up. And also more protection in the box.
– The fitting wasn’t perfect. It’s not that bad, but it’s not perfect. You have to fix all screws loosely otherwise you won’t get it in to place. The cross bar at the back especially needed everything else loose to be able to get in proper place. So a small bit of force is needed, but it works.
– There is no sketch or instructions at all. The screws have different lengths. Instead of me trying and retrying, a simple short instruction would be nice.
– The screw heads aren’t the most discrete. I understand that these are cheaper, but they are also for the most part visible. Rounded ones would have been prefered. Maybe even black.
– The mounts for the turn signals wasn’t mentioned from what I can recall. I notice them on the pictures after I noticed them when I was assembling it.
The positive
– The bars look well made. Nice welding seams. Everything feels sturdy.
– The paintjob looks nice and feels thick.
– The mounts for the turn signals. It’s a nice feature. Not sure if everyone wants it, but I will be switching mine to them. I don’t recall this being mentioned in the description though, so might want to put that in there.and a couple of closeups with and without them being used.
– The price for the product. I would say its reasonable.
– The price for shipping. Also reasonable, but might want to put in some options if one wants to pay more to get it faster.
Overall
It’s a nice product. The quality seems good and the price is acceptable.
With some small changes to packing, screws and instructions it would be even better.
I had racks almost exactly the same from Givi. I wanted to put on my new panniers from Moskomoto, but the welding seams and placement of bars force the mounting plates to be bent, so I needed new ones. These ones fit and do the job. I also used the fitting for the cross bar to attach my mount for the break lock.
I’d give it a solid 4/5. With some small changes it would be a 5/5.
